PolyU CPCE’s “2+2 Seamless Articulation Pathways” to be Featured at Education & Careers Expo 2013
(30 January 2013, Hong Kong) The PolyU College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) will showcase its educational pathways at the Education and Careers Expo to be held from 31 January to 3 February 2013.
With the theme “2+2 Seamless Articulation Pathways”, CPCE’s pavilion will show visitors its diverse range of programmes offered through its two educational units, namely Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED). HKCC graduates completing the 2-year Associate Degree (AD) or Higher Diploma (HD) programmes may articulate to SPEED’s academic programmes, including 2-year top-up honours degree programmes leading to PolyU and PolyU-SPEED awards.
To introduce HKCC’s Early Admission Scheme
For senior secondary school leavers, HKCC currently offers 35 AD and HD programmes spanning arts, science, social sciences, business as well as two specialised areas of design and health care. Over the past 10 years, more than 11,300 HKCC graduates have articulated into bachelor’s degree programmes, representing an average articulation rate of 77.9%. In 2012, the articulation rate reached 83%, among the highest in Hong Kong.
At the event, HKCC representatives will introduce to visitors its "Early Admission Scheme" for the 2013/14 academic year. Before the deadline of 19 May, current year HKDSE candidates can apply for early admission to HKCC’s programmes through the E-APP of the Education Bureau (https://www.eapp.gov.hk/), while HKALE and other eligible applicants can apply via HKCC website (www.hkcc-polyu.edu.hk/admission).
To demonstrate SPEED’s Quality Articulation Opportunities
With the sub-theme of “my world @ PolyU SPEED” at the Expo, SPEED will demonstrate its quality articulation opportunities provided for sub-degree graduates.
SPEED currently offers more than 10 top-up degree programmes leading to PolyU-SPEED awards. With mandate given by PolyU for SPEED to offer top-up degree programmes at honours degree level, SPEED has introduced, in 2012/13, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Retail and Service Management and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Travel Industry Management. The School also schedules to upgrade other programmes/schemes to honours degree level in 2013/14, subject to the approval by PolyU Senate, i.e. Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Scheme in Business, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Marketing and Public Relations, Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Hospitality Management and Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) Scheme.
In addition, SPEED collaborates with the PolyU Faculty of Health and Social Sciences to offer a PolyU award programme, namely, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Ageing Studies. Besides, among its various collaborations with overseas universities, SPEED is an Affiliate Centre of the University of London International Programmes. SPEED’s students achieved outstanding results in the Bachelor of Laws Examinations 2012 by obtaining two out of the three first class awards achieved by all students outside the U.K.
CPCE’s pavilion will also feature the diversified co-curricular activities and scholarships offered to students HKCC and SPEED. In addition, speakers from both units will deliver a seminar on “HKCC + SPEED = Your CPCE Pathway to PolyU Accredited Awards” from 11:20 am to 11:50 am, 2 February 2013 (Saturday), in Open Forum, Hall 1D, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
