The College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE), founded in 2002 by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), focuses on the provision of high quality self-financed programmes at the post-secondary level. The programmes are offered through CPCE’s two educational units, namely the Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and the School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).
CPCE’s vision is to be a leading self-financing tertiary education institution in Hong Kong. In pursuit of this vision, HKCC aspires to become a leading self-financing community college offering sub-degree programmes in Hong Kong. SPEED’s ambition is to promote intellectual and personal development through professionally-oriented undergraduate programmes and learning opportunities which prepare students to excel, lead and serve.
The mission of CPCE is to offer quality higher education opportunities to secondary school leavers, sub-degree graduates and working professionals, providing them with a solid foundation for further studies, career development and lifelong learning.
In pursuing this objective, HKCC’s mission is to offer quality sub-degree programmes that meet the changing needs of our community and prepare graduates for pursuing further studies or career development. These programmes span the domains of arts, science, social sciences, business and the specialised areas of design and health studies.
SPEED is driven by a mission to provide quality articulation degree programmes in business and other professional fields that are relevant to a range of career and professional aspirations. In addition, SPEED is devoted to offering quality and flexible educational opportunities for lifelong learning.
CPCE and its constituent units emphasise the importance of students’ all-round development by providing them with a wide array of academic and co-curricular activities in a supportive environment. These activities seek to nurture students’ creativity, active learning and critical thinking abilities as well as to enhance their self-confidence, a positive attitude and a sense of responsibility.
